Kim Magella

Kim Magella

SWIm TEACHER
While living in Florida in the 1990's, not a week, or sometimes even a day went by without hearing on the news of the tragic drowning of a child, and I was determined that my own three young children would not become just another statistic.  I sought out the ISR program, and after witnessing not only the amazing skills this program gave my children but also the beautiful self-esteem that blossomed as a result, I decided more parents needed to have the opportunity to choose ISR for their families. I trained to be a Certified Instructor in 1996 in Orlando.  After completing my training, my family moved to Raleigh, NC where I taught for two years before moving back to the Cincinnati area where my husband and I both grew up. I pursued Master Instructor training and completed MI Certification in 2003.  ISR has had a profound impact on my life and the lives of my children and family.  Every child is special and deserves the opportunity to receive "the gift of a lifetime" through ISR Self-Rescue™ skills.  Even after all these years and many, many students, it is like watching the hand of God work miracles every time I see a child rollback to float independently.

I had my son in Feb 2014 and began working as a 2nd shift caregiver for developmentally disabled adults so I could spend the day caring for my baby. I am extremely happy to be back in the water!!!

Craig Leonard

Craig Leonard

Swim Teacher
My name is Craig Leonard and I am a new instructor for Lori's H2O Skills, though not new to teaching. I swam for the Cincinnati Marlins and achieved National And State Records and several National Top 10 times. I went to Sycamore H.S., where I accomplished All-American in swimming and water polo and I was the 100 Freestyle State High School Champion my Senior year in 1977. I also swam one year at the University of Cincinnati. I started coaching my Sophmore year in college with Anderson Barracudas. I then was asked to be the Head Age Group coach at the Cincinnati Marlins where in the next 5 seasons the Marlins Age Group program was rated as the top Age Group team in the entire United States. I was a guest presenter at the National Age Group Coaches Conference in 1999 held at the Olympic Training facility in Colorado Springs, Colorado. In every coaching position I have held, I, also, taught swimming lessons. Being a part of such an incredible activity such as swimming, it became important for me to make people of all ages feel safe and to be safety conscious in and around aquatic environments. Loss of life due to fear and panic in the water is such an unnecessary occurrence these days and it is my hope that I can make a difference in the lives of the families who come to us for our expertise.
